Introducing Daniel Suhr, Senior Fellow for Legal Affairs

We are excited and honored to welcome accomplished litigator and education policy expert Daniel Suhr to the team of the National Microschooling Center, where he will serve the role of Senior Fellow for Legal Affairs. Daniel is a veteran attorney who has represented families in numerous states in their search for education solutions which meet the needs of their learners.

"I'm excited to join Don, Ashley and the team at NMC to help parents, microschool leaders, and policy-makers navigate this complex regulatory environment,” said Suhr. “Innovation is exciting, but existing legal structures often aren't ready for new, outside-the-box concepts. Through a mix of forward-thinking strategy and litigation where necessary, we can provide microschools with the best shot at maintaining their freedom and flexibility as they serve their students."

Suhr provides legal advice and insights to parents, microschool leaders, and policy-makers bringing innovation to education. He also advises the Center team in navigation the often-complex landscapes in which microschools open and operate across different states and jurisdiction.

He's also managing attorney at the Liberty Justice Center, a national non-profit, non-partisan law firm that represents parents, schools, and allies of education reform. He represents several microschool leaders whose innovative approach to education is challenging education regulation bureaucrats.

Suhr was previously policy director for Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker. He's also worked as a law clerk for a federal judge and on the national headquarters staff of the Federalist Society.

“Our team and a number of our microschools have enjoyed the good fortune of working with Daniel these recent months as we have confronted threats of regulatory barriers to microschooling serving families seeking innovative, small learning environments for the learners in their lives,” said Don Soifer, CEO of the National Microschooling Center. “Where demand for microschooling is surging at present levels, we see strong momentum for removing barriers. As we pursue these strategies, the compelling leaders of his burgeoning sector are in good highly-capable hands when equipped with Daniel’s experienced advice.”

Suhr can be reached at daniel@microschoolingcenter.org.
