I recently sat down with Christina Threeton, founder of Nevada School of Inquiry, and within minutes, it was clear—this is a woman rewriting the rules of what school can be. Christina is currently in the running for America’s Favorite Teacher, and it’s easy to see why. Her passion, innovation, and deep connection to her students offer a powerful example of what’s possible in microschools. As the contest shines a national spotlight on educators, Christina is showing the nation what we already know: small, student-centered learning environments are powerful. Our movement. Our moment. I had the chance to ask Christina a few questions about her microschool and her journey. Here’s what she shared.
Tell us about the microschool you founded?
Nevada School of Inquiry is a one room schoolhouse dedicated to serving students in grades 6-8 through inquiry-based learning and experiences. Our crafted three year program meets students where they are while engaging in cross-curricular units of instruction. We focus on the natural world, service, and community.
