The Center's Measuring Impact Design Lab

Design the impact. Validate the evidence. Tell the story on your terms.

The Measuring Impact Design Lab flips the script on how microschools measure success. Founders submit real impact challenges and, if selected, work side by side with experienced researchers who roll up their sleeves to build measurement frameworks that make sense for small, innovative microschools of various models, ensuring validity, helping founders understand their data and sharing best practices for communicating results to key stakeholders. Inside the Lab, you’ll find real measuring impact tools, honest case studies from microschools that have gone through the process and proof points shaped in the real world.

We invite you to consider: What does student success look like in your microschool, aligned with your mission and your model? This can include both academic and nonacademic success.

In what ways can this success be articulated in measurable terms? This includes both for each child individually and as an aggregate that represents your microschool's overall impact to stakeholders, including your families.

When you have arrived at ways you feel can describe your overall impact, or impacts, measurably, how can you ensure you are telling this story objectively, with the integrity and fidelity to ensure it is not based on selective reporting?

The Measuring Impact Design Lab gives microschool leaders the opportunity to work with research experts to develop ways to tell the story of their success on their own terms.
