National Microschooling Center's Thursday Bulletin

Hello microschooling friends!

Two major program unveilings. One week. One newsletter. Right now. And yes… this is what we’ve been building toward.

Things have been moving fast over here, in an intentional and purpose-filled way. The kind of way where ideas are pressure-tested, refined, and then released at just the right moment. If you’ve ever wondered where the real-time pulse of microschooling lives…you’re in it.

We listen closely to founders, and much like they build solutions for their own communities, we’re building right alongside them: designing tools, supports, and opportunities with their real needs in mind. We’re also right there in it with you, with our direct microschools support team (and our cofounders!) launching and leading microschools ourselves, learning together as we go, and cheering you on every step of the way as our experienced team provides you with the hands-on experience you can learn from and with.

In this week’s edition: The two big reveals you’ve been waiting for, an important Florida update you’ll want on your radar, a fresh video drop featuring some of the incredible Center team members and scroll all the way to the bottom for a fresh set of events!

Announcing the National Microschooling Center Training Institute

The wait is over…the National Microschooling Center’s Training Institute is officially live. This is your go-to hub for the practical training microschool leaders and educators actually want, need and request: built-for-you learning that meets you where you are, and it’s completely free. We’re kicking things off with the following courses: Flexibilities in Microschooling, Operational Necessities, Measuring Impact, and Making Your Microschool’s Governance and Board Work for You, with Marketing Your Microschool up next (with 5 additional trainings to be added over the next two months). Each course blends engaging videos with thoughtful, real-world reflection assignments and readings, plus finishing a course unlocks access to our live Training Office Hours so you can dig deeper and get live support from the Center team. If you’ve been looking for training that actually gets microschooling, you just found it.

And We're Not Done Yet...Announcing the Measuring Impact Design Lab

The National Microschooling Center’s Measuring Impact Design Lab is officially live. This is your creative command center to help microschools desig how you want to measure impact in both academic and nonacademic learning.

Packed with tools, resources, ideas, and real-world inspiration to help you make sense of your data in a way that actually reflects your microschool. And if you’re ready to take it a step further, apply to be paired with a Research Fellow for the 2026–2027 school year, giving you the opportunity to work alongside a thoughtful third-party expert will work with you to identify what exactly you want to measure to define your success in the way that matter most to your stakeholders – and your families – and tell your story objectively with validity and integrity.

Curious? Ready? A little bit fired up? Head into the Lab and start shaping your impact story.

Plus Another New Video Drop!

Best practices, actualization, choice, spaces students can thrive, personalized, relationship-based…our team says it best! Listen in to three of our incredible field coordinators (all accomplished microschool founders themselves) as they talk about why microschooling is the answer for American education.

Navigating Florida's Landscape for

Microschools Webinar

Florida founders! We hear you - running a microschool is getting tricky out there!

That’s why our own frameworks expert Don Soifer is teaming up with Florida legal expert Lynn Swanson from the Stand Together Edupreneur Resource Center!

Bring your questions for this hourlong webinar that will include discussion about these and other topics of importance to microschools and nontraditional small learning environments:

Challenges getting business licenses and facilities approved in many Florida cities and counties;

New provisions offer zoning and facilities flexibility for designated private schools, but not for microschools organized in other ways, and what some see as a likelihood that future flexibilities and protections may follow this pattern;

Increasing demand and subsequent funding limitations for Personalized Education Program funds through Step Up for Students;

General absence of clear understanding by many in the microschool community about Florida’s private school requirements, along with limitations and available flexibilities;

Impacts and implications of Florida’s child care licensure and facilities regulation.

And more!

These two sessions will be similar so register for either one that works for you:

Thursday, April 16th at 4pm ET (Register here)
